“Winter Petals” was picked in November 2021 at 2200 meters above sea level in the Li Shan Mountain range. Qing Xin is one of the original clones created from tea seeds from China in the early ’60s and is considered the “original” Taiwanese oolong. Dong Pian is a special second winter picking that is only available if the weather conditions are right and the trees receive enough sun since, at this altitude, leaf growth is very slow, and trees are covered with snow and fog most of the year. The day this tea was picked, the temperature was only 2°C (36°F). The floral aroma and golden brew from the first steeping are captivating and show just how great Taiwan oolongs can be!
